In 2001, National Chiao Tung University established the nation's first Bioinformatics Institute to recruit outstanding students from the fields of biology and computing information.
Our research fields include the diverse and complex disciplines in genetic and biological information, structural biological information, molecular simulation, database structure and design, computational biological algorithms, structural biology, molecular and cellular biology, genetics, molecular evolution, and genomics. Students must have the ability to develop interdisciplinary learning in order to solve problems encountered in research.
Paying equal attention to teaching and research has always been the core spirit of the College of Biological Science and Technology (CBT) at NCTU. The Institute also holds the same belief, combines foundamental and practical knowledge, and uses solid education as the basis to actively cooperate with major hospitals and research institutions in Taiwan to study clinical data and cultivate top talents in theoretical and applied bioinformatics and systems biology.
